Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I'm taking on the challenge of running 26.2 miles in the London Marathon 2022 and fundraising in support of Mind. Mind is a very important charity as it helps to support people who are facing mental health problems and supports those who have lost loved ones due to mental health. I lost my older brother, James, due to mental health. James died 5 years ago after struggling with his mental health for over 30 year and I’ll be doing the Marathon in his memory. Losing him has left a huge gap in my family and we miss him every day.
One of the big reasons I decided to retrain as a mental health nurse was wanting to understand, support and empower people with serious mental illness. Working in acute mental health services has given me insight into the issues people face, the barriers and the how important the work that charities like Mind do, in challenging stigma, looking to create fairness and increase understanding of the
debilitating and sometimes unfortunately terminal impact of serious mental illness. It’s also shown me that it is possible for people to recover and live good lives with the right support, empathy, and compassion. Please read below to find out more about who Mind are and how your donation can go towards supporting people and their mental health.
Hope you’ll support me with this – it’s a massive, daunting challenge for me. I’ll be pounding the streets (often with my trusty sidekick Lottie dog) over the next few months so give me a wave – I need all the support I can get!!!!! Thanks xxxxx
Who are Mind?
We're Mind, the mental health charity. We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We're here for you. Today. Now. Whether you're stressed, depressed or in crisis. We'll listen, give support and advice, and fight your corner.
We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

Your Donation
I'm raising funds to support the important work Mind does and to allow them to continue to be there for everyone who needs them. Please donate if you can.
This is what your donation could do:
£10 could allow Mind to send essential information booklets about mental health to 40 people.
£40 could pay for 28 people to campaign for change on Mind's behalf.
£70 could keep Mind's online community, Elefriends, open and safe for two hours.
£120 could offer a lifeline to eight people in desperate need of support from the Mind legal line.
£200 could help Mind to keep the Mind Infoline open for 1 hour, helping 35 people.
£300 could support a young person bereaved by suicide to access 1:1 and group support.
£550 could provide five people struggling with their mental health a place in a 10-week wellbeing group with team sports and cookery.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and for donating. Your support is hugely appreciated and means a lot to both me.
