On Saturday 31st August I will be participating in Trekfest. This tough one day challenge will push me to my limit whilst I walk 50km across the Peak District. I could have taken the easier option of 25km but in a moment of madness I opted for the full 50km! 

So I've traded in heels for walking boots and swapped trips to retail parks for 5 hour training hikes! This WILL be a challenge for me - long distance walking is not part of my daily repertoire and I'm lucky if I bust 2,000 steps a day when I'm at work. But come 31st August 2019 I will be 'Trekfest fit' and ready to take on the Peak District - 50km in one day. 

Having been exposed to the struggles that friends and family members, both young and old, have experienced following the diagnosis of cancer, it has evermore made me realise that no one is invincible. For some reason, probably ignorance, I always thought that 'the big C' would be something that happened to someone I didn't know..or someone in the latter stages of life. Whether you're young or old, suffering with ill health or fit as a fiddle - the diagnosis is just as devastating for the individual, their families and their friends, and remaining positive can be a struggle. That's why I've chosen to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support. 

Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.
