In 2017, a co-worker told me about Dreamflight! Dreamflight is an amazing charity based out of the UK that takes 192 kids with life threatening illnesses or disability on a vacation of a lifetime to Orlando. Dreamflight is not just a vacation though; it does something that medicine can’t. The children get the opportunity to discover independence, confidence, and a whole new outlook on life. Often for the first time, they realise that they are not the odd one out. They gain perspective and experience things that they never thought possible.

After hearing stories about this amazing charity, I knew I needed to help in whatever way I could. Since 2017, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of the Dreamflight US volunteers and I have seen first hand the incredible impact these trips have had on so many children.

A group of us volunteers/supporters have set ourselves the challenge of collectively walking, running, swimming, cycling and skiing our way (virtually) around the globe. We are each setting an individual challenge to complete over the month of February. My personal goal is to walk 5km or bike 10km every day during the month of February and anything extra is a bonus to help our group make our way around the globe. 

I understand times are tough and money is stretched, but if you can make the little extra stretch to help us keep the dream alive for Dreamflight and these amazing children. A few dollars/pounds can make a huge difference to the work of this amazing charity.

Here are a few ways your money will help:

£140 - pays for a child to swim with dolphins at  Discovery Cove.

£100 - provides a personalised DVD for the 16 children in the Mickey Mouse group, providing them with love long memories of the trip.

£60 - provides lunch & refreshments for one child for the entire trip.

£375 - pays for accommodation for the entire trip to Orlando.

£250 pays for equipment such as dry suits for those whose disability prevents them getting wet.
