We provide 24 hour specialist care to support people with a terminal illness

Story

For the 4th consecutive year me, my hubby and my dad will be running The Great North Run to raise funds for The Prince of Wales Hospice.

This is a fantastic local charity that cares for patients with life limiting illnesses whilst providing support for their families.  We are all local people and I have worked for The Hospice for more than 15 years and feel passionate about it and so want to raise as much money as possible to help ensure it continues.

The hospice recently suffered severe flooding due to freak weather conditions whereby the excessive amount of rainfall which occurred in a short space of time resulted in the main drains in the area being unable to cope and subsequently the hospice - which is situated on a fairly steep incline - being flooded with the excess water.   The support from the local community and businesses was fantastic and demonstrated the extent to which the hospice really is seen as a local charity.  Whilst the services have continued throughout the clean up campaign is on and the hospice building currently looks in a sorry state with flooring lifted and industrial drying units throughout!   As Facilities Manager I feel personally responsible for the building I am conscious we need to rectify this ASAP - yes the insurance will pick up many of the costs but not all and it's the upheaval in the meantime.  Any donation you can make to help out would be really appreciated.
