Story
For those of you gifting for my birthday, a really huge thank you and virtual hug.
RED January is a fun initiative that encourages people to support their own mental health by doing something active every single day. January is renowned for being a month where people experience the blues and so keeping active is important.
I’ve made my RED January a mini challenge because of my birthday, and so for the whole of January I aim to walk every day in order to achieve 50 miles a week, dance to 50 songs and do 50 circles hula hooping (yet to be mastered!).
For me I have realised the importance of being active, particularly having fun and being in the outdoors where I can also take advantage of the benefits of being in nature. Even better is when I have company, either with family or friends and Milo, our gorgeous dog.
Despite the huge amount of knowledge we now have about mental ill health and how to help people, there are still so many where it causes havoc with their lives. Unfortunately this is very often due to a lack of insight, as well as the enormous amount of funding required to enable the right type of support to be available, and vitally, within a quick timeframe.
Charities like Mind BLMK are dedicated in supporting all kinds of people with their mental health difficulties and provide a valuable local service here in Bedford.
I have been really fortunate to have, and am truly grateful for, some amazing support over the last three years particularly from friends and family. I am also thankful to have had the personal motivation to put in the enormous amount of hard work it takes to recover, and stay that way.
By donating to charities like Mind BLMK we can help others not so fortunate to get the help and support they need, thank you.
