Story
On the 16 March 2017 our lives was turned upside down where Kaci was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. 2 years on she is an absolute trooper and is now on an insulin pump which is so much more flexible for her rather than injections. Without JDRF all this wouldn’t be possible as not only are they trying to find a cure they help with trials and trying out various other treatments to make life easier for people with type 1.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, not caused by diet, lifestyle or by something someone did or didnt do. The condition affects over 400,000 people in the UK, who face thousands of insulin injections and finger prick blood tests each year just to stay alive. Thousands of walkers are raising £135,000 this Autumn to get one step nearer the cure for type 1, including us taking part in the One Walk Aberdeen. We know that the cure is just a matter of time and money. Help JDRF transform lives by donating: £100 could pay for a person to be screened for type 1. Sadly people still die from undiagnosed type 1 complications - this could stop diagnosis at crisis point £50 could mean that 5 children no longer feel alone with their type 1. They now have a new fluffy best friend called Rufus who also has type 1£20 could enable 20 parents to return to work, safe in the knowledge their childs type 1 will be managed at school, thanks to JDRFs e-learning modules.Thank you.
