These are my wonderful parents, Audrey and Peter Bruckshaw. 

Like so many people, their lives were ended by cancer.  My dad died last spring after developing lung cancer, and a few months later my mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour. She was able to live, in comfort, until June this year - partly because there is already expertise and knowledge about treating cancers.  But so much more is needed and this is why I'm raising money for Cancer Research. 

We all know so many others - friends, family, work colleagues - who now or in the past have had to deal with this condition.  And we've seen, in 2016, how cancer seems to have taken such a terrible toll on the musicians, actors, comedians who have touched our lives in other ways, and made our culture so vibrant.
