Story

I’m a volunteer working for The Samaritans at Weston super Mare and I’m hoping to raise funds for our Branch to help us cover our basic operating costs. We rely entirely on local fund raising and donations to meet the costs of our service to the community. Our basic cost is £350 per week approximately £50 each day. All our volunteers give freely of their time to help provide emotional support to those in need. The Samaritans are the only charity of its kind offering support 24 hours each day of the year. Your donation will help us to continue this worthwhile service.

My challenge involves encouraging my puppy Flossie to walk from The Grand Pier in Weston super Mare to The River Axe at Uphill and back (about 6 miles I reckon). Flossie is a young Border Terrier who enjoys the great outdoors. At the moment she walks in our local park and often needs coaxing with a treat or two when it comes to leaving. We have taken a few walks on the beach and reached Uphill but have needed to catch the bus back into town.

We took the walking challenge on Thursday 8th October since it was a beautifully sunny and calm autumnal day. It took us about 3 hours and Flossie did incredibly well for such a young puppy, she dug a few holes in the sand along the way enjoyed running some of  the way too.
