Story
"It doesn't matter where you are in your journey with hyperinsulinism...when a low hits you... it hits you hard." A #RareDiseaseTruth from HI Mom Kiersten Smith. We know that living with Congenital hyperinsulinism (HI) is hard, and that is why Team CHIbra is raising funds to address the critical need for research for diagnostic tests that would increase timely diagnosis of HI, tools for better management, new treatments, and one day, a cure.
HI is a life-threatening disorder that causes dangerously low blood sugar levels. Prolonged or severe low blood sugar can cause seizures, brain damage, and even death. The consequences of HI are preventable however, HI is often overlooked, misdiagnosed, or even when detected, mistreated. We hope you can join Team CHIbra in raising HI research funds again this year for a brighter future for families and people with HI!
Your fundraising dollars will be used for an innovative, pre-clinical or clinical study designed to improve the diagnosis, therapy, or quality of life for those affected by congenital hyperinsulinism. The first $20,000 we raise is matched by the University of Pennsylvania, our partner in funding research.
