Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have decided, after running Middlesbrough 10K in memory of my Dad, John Bell, in support of Teesside hospice to run The Great North Run in September 2023.

I always said to my Dad that one day I would run The Great North Run and Boro 10K run seemed like a good place to start. I caught the running bug and love going out. It really helps with my mental health and my physical health has improved a lot also.

I have always wanted to challenge myself to do this run, it seems like an impossible feat at the moment!

For those who were lucky enough to know my Dad, they will know he was the kindest, funniest and warm and welcoming man. Dad was smiling and telling jokes right till the end.  John was, is and always will be an amazing husband, father and grandfather. John is dearly missed everyday.

John passed away in March 2021 after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family at home.

I have found taking the time to exercise and be out in nature has really helped me make peace with his passing. Dad loved being outdoors and helping keep The Bluebell Beck in tip-top shape!

I think, where ever he is, he would be surprised but proud of me taking this on.

I am raising funds in his memory and for Teesside Hospice, in his memory as we know it would be a Charity he would have wanted us to fundraise for.

I have read many stories of the amazing work Teesside Hospice do for local families, as well as talking to those who work there or have had loved ones in palliative care. The work staff and carers do for those in Teesside is amazing,  it inspires us to want to support them and do more.
