AMALA FEST - Our Community Caring Caring For Syria's Children.

We are a community organisation putting on an event at the Civic Hall, Totnes on Saturday 16 November 2013 to raise money for the Children of Syria Appeal with the charity WARChild.

We are splitting the event into two parts; Day Fest and Night Fest;

·         DAY FEST runs from 10.30am to 5pm and is free entry. During this time we will be holding craft and artisanal market stalls from local traders.  There will also be art and craft activities and workshops for children and adults to participate in. There will be performances by children from local schools as well as local musicians, artists and DJ sets. We also have a bar provided by Hunters Brewery and a café run by Maisie’s Café.

·         NIGHT FEST runs from 7pm until midnight, tickets will be available to buy in advance from Drift Records, Rumour Restaurant and Harlequin Bookshop at £8 a ticket (£10 on the door) Tickets also available online through our Just Giving page (Give full name and write 'FOR TICKETS' in message when donating). We have; poetry readings, live comedy and live music performances from local bands and artists such as Matthew & Me, The Livework Unit and Makiwa (plus special guests) as well as well as DJ sets from Tung N Groove and a DJ booth by the bar with sets from Jonny T & Will

Throughout the event there will be guest speakers raising awareness of the situation in Syria and surrounding countries.  So far Paul Conroy, war photographer for The Sunday Times, David Glover from the charity Shelterbox and Jacqui Cousins on behalf of WARChild have all confirmed their attendance.

WARChild is a small international charity that protects children from the brutal effects and consequences of war, working in some of the worst affected countries in the world.

Throughout the event times Bob The Bus will be providing a service from Follaton and Bridgetown to the Civic Hall for Day Fest, plus an extra route from Dartington for Night Fest.

Our aim is for Amala Fest to be a whole community event that celebrates children in support of Syria.  We would like your support to help make this a very special day for Totnes and the children of Syria.
