850k people in the UK are affected by dementia - 1 in 79 (1.3%) nationwide and 1 in every 14 of the population aged 65 + are affected. A lot of the cost currently falls on the NHS. More R&D funding is needed to support scientists research to help find a cure. 

My Grandad past away a few years ago after suffering badly with dementia. While progress has been made in advancing diagnostic methods, new approaches are needed to understand the pathomechanism of the disease to find a cure. The drugs approved currently are inhibitors & they do not correct the pathology of the disease.

We’ll be cycling 60km on April 25th around Essex & Suffolk to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. All funds raised will be donated by the end of May - Any donation is welcome.
