Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in May, I applied to run for the lead charity Dementia Revolution, a charity very close to mine and my family's heart. In July they shared the exciting news that I had a place! They were inspired by my story!
For those of you who don't know, almost 4 years ago my family's lives were turned upside down. My Mum was diagnosed with early on set dementia aged 55. Later her diagnosis was related to the rare form of dementia - Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), also known as Benson's syndrome. It is a rare degenerative condition in which damage occurs at the back of the brain, affecting her vision, such as difficulty recognising faces and objects.
Everyday we face new challenges as a family, whether it's Mum struggling to understand, or we as a family of carers learning how best to help her. We all have our good and bad days, but we stand together as a unit and continue fighting!
To be taking part in something so incredible for such a worthy cause, is humbling and I'm honoured. To run my first marathon for such a wonderful charity and it to be the London Marathon on my birthday it really is a dream come true.
With almost a million people living with dementia in the UK, many families live's are touched by this devastating disease and we need your help! I have pledged to raise £2500 to help fund ground-breaking research towards a cure and together we can help raise an incredible £3.5 million for the UK Dementia Research Institute.
So please, no matter the amount you can donate, we will fight dementia together!
Doing it for all the Mums and Daughters our there!
Thank you for your support!
Love and Best wishes,
