Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. I am one of these people. I believe no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone and the good people at Mind have always listened and given support to people like me, and many others around the UK.
Mental illness is just that, an illness, but its easy to think that mental illness is a choice. There's this great belief that we control our mind and it doesn't control us. However, when your mind isn't working the way it should it is important to remember that it's due to an illness and not due to willpower. If I broke my leg, nobody would expect me to use my mind to fix the breaks in my bones.
Mental illness is not entirely understood in regards to how and why an individual will suffer now or in the future, but Mind are there, any time they are needed, to get someone through the ups and downs of their mental state, and I truly believe this is a cause worth supporting. Funds might go to keeping the many helplines running so that those struggling can call in, or toward training in order to end discrimination and promote good mental health for all. This is such an important cause!
