UPDATE - 30th March 2018
Frustratingly I have had to pull out of the VLM 2018. I have a degenerative disc (L4-L5) with a bulge into my spinal canal, double bubble, my favourite. Will take a couple of months of rehab in the form of intense Core Strengthening and Spinal Injections to relieve pressure on the disc. So by the time I am finished I will not only be marathon ready but have the six pack the envy of any 36 year old. I have signed up already for the Richmond Marathon in September 2018. Never Give Up
1st January 2018
Thank you very much for visiting my Just Giving page. I will be running the London Marathon on behalf of the Scleroderma & Raynaud’s UK. My Auntie Mags was diagnosed in 2008 with Scleroderma and since then the charity has become very close to our families’ hearts thanks to their incredible work and support.
Despite the effects of this rare and incurable skin & auto immune disorder getting tougher to manage over the past years, Mags continues to stay positive and inspire those around her, especially me, she is a true lesson in resilience.
The SRUK give her the opportunity to meet other women and men who are equally inspiring. The support groups allow Mags to exchange tips and information, but mostly laugh a lot together about the various predicaments they get into because of the illness. That's the best therapy.
It was my honour to run for her charity in the London 2012 marathon as well across the seas in Sao Paulo in 2014. 2018 will see me take it on the arches one more time.
All the pain and aches from training and finally running the marathon are non-comparable to the symptoms and effects of Scleroderma, so by sponsoring me I will promise there will minimal moaning and certainly no slacking off over the next few weeks. I will hold fast.
Thank you in advance for your kind donation, Godspeed
