Asad lives in India with his mum Zahra and his two siblings. His father passed away a few years ago after suffering a heart attack, leaving Zahra the sole breadwinner of their family. She started working in a private school, earning just enough to cover their basic needs of food and water. When the pandemic hit, the school closed and her salary was stopped. She had nothing and nowhere to turn.
Last year, on the rst day of Shahr Ramadan, she broke her fast with very little and remembered when she was able to ll her table with food. The next day, our team arrived at their door with enough food to last their family a whole month. She said she prayed for her donors every single day when she broke her fast.
Unfortunately, there are millions of families just like Asad and Zahras who were already struggling to make ends meet and are now suffering further due to the pandemic. Our teams around the world are identifying these families right now so we can provide them with support.
