While LGBTQIA2S+ youth make up 7% of the total non-adult population in the U.S., they represent 40% of all youth experiencing homelessness today. In fact, LGBTQIA2S+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than the general population. The data for our LGBTQIA2S+ youth from communities of color show even greater challenges and disproportionate hardship.In response, New Avenues proudly offers programs and resources to address the unique barriers and challenges facing our LGBTQIA2S+ youth. This includes the Sexual & Gender Minority Youth Resource Center (SMYRC) as well as integrated, culturally-specific case management services. Regardless of the specific need, New Avenues is committed to providing safe, harassment-free spaces and relationships for these young people to be their best selves.The New Avenues Ambassador Board is celebrating Pride this year by raising critical resources and awareness for LGBTQIA2S+ youth.
