Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I’m raising money for Leukaemia Research and WOMAC (Women On the Move Against Cancer) by running 10 km in this year’s Banananman Run in Milton Keynes on Sunday 13 September… just in time to seize up nicely before flying to the Frankfurt Motor Show!
Since getting married and having my beautiful daughter Livvy I have become a very contented couch potato and exercise to me is a distant memory. So while 10 km might not sound much to most people, to me it’s a marathon. What’s more, at the end of the 10 km I have to accompany two-year old Livvy on the children’s 2 km race so that makes 12! I’m not a natural runner, more of a slow plodder, and am likely to be overtaken by anyone walking a bit quicker with a zimmer frame or children who’ve just learnt to crawl. Quite frankly, I’m dreading it!
WOMAC this year is supporting two charities. The Eve Appeal needs money for further research into the prevention and causes of Ovarian Cancer; while The Little Princess Trust sources and pays for real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair, primarily through chemotherapy treatment. If you’re an emotional person or have ever sat brushing your own child’s hair you really should steer clear of their website! It’s a wonderful and very deserving charity.
I know there have been lots of fundraising requests lately for much tougher challenges than mine but this means an awful lot to me and I would really appreciate whatever money you can spare for these worthy causes. A tough year for the motor industry means a tough year for WOMAC - which is why I’m asking you to support me on this one.
Thank you so much.
