Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am undertaking a 3,500 mile, unsupported walk from Lands End to John o'Groats passing through the highest point in each of the historic counties of mainland Britain.
On June 24th I finally completed the journey arriving at Duncansby Head at 15:52 after 3481 miles of walking over 216 days.
The journey should have been completed last year but family commitments and the weather conspired together to limit the days I could spend in the hills. I made it to Ullapool before hanging up my boots for the winter leaving 2 counties, Sutherland and Caithness to complete in 2013.
The journey began on March 10th 2010. However my body ran out of steam on August 6th in the Tweed Valley near Peebles and I was advised to take 2 months rest. I resumed the journey in October and completed the Border Hills. When I reached Sanquhar I decided to pause for the winter after completing 60 of the 84 counties and walking 2,311 miles in 132 days. I had intended to complete the journey in 2011 but I fell in Glencoe and cracked a rib which out me out of action for 3 months which meant I could only complete 79 out of the 84 counties before the winter.
