Story
As some of you may know, I recently re-joined the Green Heart Project as the Farm-to-School Program Coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. I am beyond excited to be back in the Charleston area working both in our office and school gardens alongside our awesome staff, partners and students!
That being said, the Green Heart Project is gearing up for its 10th year of Farm to School programs in Charleston and I'm asking for your support.
We are extending the deadline to reach our goal of raising $25,000 from September 9 to September 16th due to Hurricane Dorian. Our $25,000 goal will help us kick off our partnerships with 6 schools in Charleston County, reaching 1,200 students.
The funds will be used to:
1) Prepare school gardens, including soil, mulch, plants, and seeds
2) Purchase program supplies, including culinary kits for cooking lessons, and garden kits featuring hand trowels, gardening gloves, and magnifying glasses for garden lessons
Green Heart's Garden Educators, including myself, lead students and volunteers in hands-on learning every week in partner schools. With your help, we can guarantee hands-on, outdoor learning experiences around healthy food for 1,200 students in our city!
I encourage you to learn more about the Green Heart Project at http://www.greenheartsc.org and hope you will consider supporting us this school year!
