During the Covid19 pandemic I was honoured to be the Chairman of a local Derby & Derbyshire Charity Safe and Sound. I remain shocked that any young person is at risk of being exploited. Abusers do not discriminate based on ethnicity, social background or where they live. It can be someone they know, a stranger or even an organised gang. What begins as a normal relationship quickly sucks them into a world of criminal or sexual activity, often both. Safe & Sound provide vital support to children across Derbyshire who are at risk of being exploited, helping them back to a place of safety and dignity with dedicated 1-2-1 work that lowers their risk and transforms their future. I'm supporting their Butterfly Appeal so they can continue this vital, life changing work in Derby and Derbyshire.
