Story
Without the speedy transfer from the coast guard, off the hill into the hands of the Welsh Air Ambulance, Allan would never have made it to the hospital. Even though he tragically died, the expert care begun on the hillside was continued by the coast guard who extracted him, and then by the Wales Air Ambulance who took him from Caernafon to Stoke. But unlike the Coastguard, which is funded by government, the Air Ambulances are charities relying on donations and fundraising to operate.
The Wales Air Ambulance Charity is funded by the people of Wales. They operate some of the most advanced air ambulances in the UK, saving precious time and lives. They rely entirely on charitable donations to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road across Wales. Wales air ambulance has completed over 43,000 missions since it was founded in 2001 and is on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
