Story
Alcohol Awareness Week is from the 15th-21st November 2021 and this year I have given myself the challenge of walking 20,000 steps a day (around 9/10 miles a day) during that week. This is a huge challenge for me with my asthma and health but something I know I can do!
Heartbreakingly my mum passed away in July 2021 at the age of 42. Mum had battled and struggled with alcohol for so many years, having a huge impact on all of us. I want to do this in memory of her and raise money for an amazing charity to help raise more awareness of alcoholism and the horrific impacts it has on people and their nearest and dearest.
Alcohol Change UK this year have chosen the theme of 'Alcohol and Relationships' another reason why I wanted to take part and fundraise this year as alcohol played such a huge and upsetting part on my relationship and families relationship with my mum.
Alcoholism is an horrific illness that so many more people need to be made more aware of. It affects so many aspects of day-to-day life and a topic that isn't spoken about enough.
I will update this page daily during Alcohol Awareness Week with information and also how my challenge is going!
