Story
Each year more than 11,000 men die from prostate cancer - that's one man dying every 45 minutes. Given the statistics, I'm scrapping the 10,000 step challenge and instead walking 11,000 steps a day for the month of September. They money raised by this challenge will fund research into life-saving treatments for prostate cancer and provide practical support to men and their families.
I was diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer on 28th June this year. I am to start chemotherapy on 3rd September.
I am determined to walk (or run) 11,000 steps each day - as a personal goal - and to hopefully demonstrate that active life can still go on through the treatment I will be receiving.
If my treatment prevents me from completing the full 11,000 steps on any particular day I am determined to make up any shortfall on subsequent days.
Having Prostate Cancer is not going to stop me from completing this challenge!
