Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have signed up to climb Mt Kilimanjaro as part of the NESS expedition in May/June 2014 to raise funds for the charity.
As you can see from our photograph we are all pretty fit for our age! (Well Alan and Allan are.....) Something that we can all take for granted. We will be humbled by our walking partner, Neil Skene, Fundraising Coordinator for NESS and Scotland’s only Blind Comedian, who will be undertaking the same challenge as us who has in the past trekked to Everest Base Camp and the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. We hope his jokes will keep us going through the week. Neil said;
"Please support these 3 amazing guys as they are not only taking on a huge challenge, they are attempting to get me there too and this may not sound like much but I'm totally blind, so will be reliant on them lending a guiding arm"
Our simple goal is to get Neil and ourselves to the top of this challenging mountain (and back down again) and by doing so raise as much support and awareness as we possibly can for the work that NESS does.
Established in 1879, North East Sensory Services (NESS) works with over 3500 people with a sensory impairment in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray. NESS provides a range of services including a domiciliary social work service, a rehabilitation service, resource centres in Aberdeen and Elgin, social activities and assistance with daily living skills.
As a local, independent charity NESS relies on fundraising to maintain services to clients. All money raised stays in the North East for the benefit of local people with a sensory impairment.
You’ll see our joint fundraising target above – your donation can really help us smash this goal. Thanks very much for your support.
