Story

Rowans Hospice provide palliative and end-of-life care to the highest quality for those living with a life-limiting illness in the South East of Hampshire. Our highly trained hospice carers help to improve quality of life for the patient by easing physical symptoms as well as offering psychological, spiritual and social support to both patients and their loved ones. Our dedicated hospice care is available round the clock either in house or at home, as well as offering services for day visitors in our Living Well Centre. Wellbeing events and classes are available to carers, patients and the bereaved with no referral required.Whilst our care is provided free of charge, we are in fact a hospice charity and 90% of our income is generated by legacies, donations, fundraising and our retail shops. Through your generous donations and fundraising we continue to provide much needed support to the community and make a difference to so many lives and for this we thank you.

The Rowans Hospice has been part of my life for so long. I used to Marshall with my dad for the Moonlit Memories Walk, friends have had relatives cared for there, I worked in one of their retail shops and I am a member of the Denmead & Waterlooville Rowans Hospice Fundraising Support Group. My personal connection to the Rowans Hospice deepened last year when my mum 'Rosetta Hayllar' was admitted following deteriorating health from QA Hospital and sadly she passed away 3rd May 2022. She was cared for so wonderfully by all the staff and volunteers and she was in no pain, she got to enjoy her favourite meals and always enjoyed a cup of tea. I'm very thankful to all those who made her last couple of weeks so comfortable and she got to admire the beautiful gardens and birds from her room. Luckily most of us were able to say goodbye when the time came and she was surrounded by love and peace.

Last year some of the family and I did the Moonlit Memories Walk in her memory and this year my siblings and nephews will also walk in our family team 'Bee Positives for Rose' in memory of her. This year I will also be surrounded by other friends walking alongside us, all walking for our own personal reasons but giving thanks and sharing love for a common cause.

All I ask is, if you can, to give whatever you can spare to this amazing charity so they can continue to help support more people and families.

Thank you xx
