Story
"Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet, the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go, falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph ....!!!".
Every time I read that I go weak at the knees, but falling out of a plane (securely strapped to a qualified instructor I hasten to add!) at 10,000 feet is exactly what I'll be doing on Sunday 12 June in an attempt to move out of my 'comfort zone'. As I am terrified of heights, this really is pushing my boundaries - you'll probably hear me screaming wherever you are!
Needless to say, I'm not doing this purely for the fun of it (is 'fun' the right word?!), but to raise much needed money for St Francis Hospice at Havering atte Bower. St Francis Hospice provides care and support to those with terminal and life limiting illnesses, and serves a catchment area of around one million people; all the services they provide are free of charge to patients and their families. These services cost approximately £18,000 per day, of which 70% is funded purely from donations and fundraising events such as this.
So please help me reach my target of £500 by sponsoring me in this terrifying event! Whatever you can manage would be greatly appreciated. As the saying goes - every little helps!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and I hope you are able to sponsor me.
THANK YOU!
