The Aspire Channel Swim 2008 · 15 September 2008 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Basically, I hate running. I really do. I can't face another Race for Life.

I quite like swimming.

However, without some motivation I am rubbish at doing exercise. So, I am motivating myself here. I will swim the channel if you will sponsor me!

I will even put up with the hair hassle it will cause me.

So please sponsor me!

I am stocking up on goose fat, and Holly is taking on the role of acccompanying me to the pool on every swim, on a support boat, with a megaphone to shout encouragement. She is also arranging for a group of French people to wave onions at me at the end of the pool on my last swim to welcome me to France.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ASPIRE gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
