Story

I am taking on a 1in10 Challenge to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK! Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex and pelvic pain outside of periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it. The impact can be felt for life and there is no cure.It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK, that's too long! Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.

Whilst 10 minutes of squats a day doesn’t sound too hard for most people, this may well be the hardest challenge I’ve taken on (and I’ve done some crazy things in the past!!). Some days, recently averaging 3-4 days per month, due to debilitating pelvic and/or back pain, I can’t even get out of bed. I suffer with pain almost every day making even doing the simplest of things, such as driving/walking difficult and has led to me cancelling so much of my regular life. I try to remain positive and have a good support network with friends & family and recently have joined lots of forums and speaking online with endometriosis warriors around the world, which has really helped. I’m currently waiting for my 4th surgical procedure in the 10years I’ve been suffering with this hideous condition and with Covid having caused even further delay, manage literally day by day.

Any support you can give me here means that future women hopefully won’t have to wait so long for diagnosis and that treatment is offered quicker and therefore less impactful on their lives. Thank you in advance 🙏🏼🌼💛
