Story
Some of you will know that a close family friend, Fiona, passed away last September from a very rare and aggressive bile duct cancer. In March 2021 Fiona was discharged from ICU and sent home for end of life care. At this point St John's hospice entered the family's life. In the following 7 months Fiona showed depths of courage that astounded us and the ever supportive hospice team. Against all odds she survived to celebrate various family events.
Soon after Fiona's funeral, Gillian (Fiona's sister and my 'oldest' friend) and I thought we should enter a triathlon to raise funds for the Hospice. Gillian's "main source of exercise last year was running up and down 4 flights of stairs to serve tea to Fiona's enormous network of friends!". She, along with Amelia (my daughter and Gillian's Goddaughter), Amelia's husband Matt and I will rely on Fiona's determination and resilience to complete this endurance task - none of us have attempted a triathlon before. It involves a 1.5km open water swim, 40km cycle and a 10km run!
A huge thank you to all for supporting us, Fiona's memory, her family and the incredible work of St John's Hospice. Gillian has also set up a Just Giving Page, copy and paste the link below.
