Story
Well that’s it I’ve done it, I’ve got a place in the London Marathon – eek !!🙈
Feeling giddy but at the same time really nervous as I’ve previously only ever managed Half Marathons !
In April 1996, at the age of 27, I experienced very weird ailments, like double vision, numb limbs, getting my ‘mords’ ‘wixed’ up, incredible dizziness so much so that I struggled to walk unaided. This finally led to my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis
However I was absolutely determined to fight this illness even though I didn’t know at time how things would pan out. At my bedside that day of my diagnosis, I remember firmly saying to my sister Cara, “this illness won't beat me”
Post diagnosis, I explored many natural and ‘bizarre’ routes…..... These included the removal of all my 13 amalgam fillings, sending a cutting of my hair, to a very old, retired GP in Scotland, who was renowned for his special natural remedies, to combat illnesses.
I've read all of the Judi Graham books as she is an inspirational writer for anyone with MS – purely adopting the natural approach. I flatly refused to take the expensive wonder drug at that time, ‘Beta Interferon' !
I don’t actually know what worked, but something did. I’m putting it down to the fact I’m such a strong believer in Positive Mental Attitude as I believe this can and does overcome, the most challenging of illnesses
I truly feel inspired to run the iconic London Marathon so I can raise bucket loads of money for MS-UK, a fantastic charity so please don’t be shy & dig deep as I’ve quite a few pennies to raise !!
