Story
April 2 I will be participating in the London landmarks half marathon raising funds and awareness for the charity Target Ovarian Cancer.
Ovarian Cancer is known as the silent killer as the symptoms are so subtle they are often missed by the patient and even the doctors & gynaecologists leading to late stage 3 or 4 diagnosis. Which is what happened to my dear friend and running pal Sam Madden who was diagnosed out of the blue with no symptoms or family history. This was at a time in her life when she was at her fittest she had ever been, we were running over 20k a week just a month before her devastating stage 4 diagnosis.
Cervical screening does not detect Ovarian cancer. There are no screening tests for Ovarian cancer.
This cruel disease is insidious, has hardly any symptoms until it has taken its hold, and is so under funded.
Please support me by raising funds. Your donations will help this charity to fund a support line for people needing advice, information and emotional support, raise awareness as well as funding much needed research to improve diagnosis and treatment for women like Sam, now and in the future.
