Ethan, my son came upto me and said that he wanted to give something back to Great Ormond Street Hospital to say thank you for the ten years of care and support he was given. So we decided upon walking on hot coals on Sunday 27th October in Sheffield - which is not only a physical but mental challenge.
Ethan was diagnosed with a mixed cavernous and capillary orbital heamangioma at 6 weeks of age, after many weeks of researching and seeing consultants who didn't seem to be seeing the urgency of this growing tumour we finally got to Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children in London, but Ethan was now 13 weeks old and the damage was done, he was put on steroids and at 16 weeks had steroid injections into his eyelid with out anaesthetic, four more steroid injections later his condition wasn't improving so at 15 months of age he endured a 4 1/2 hour operation to save his sight. Years of visits later at the age of 10 Ethan was discharged and now just visits the local opticians.
The care we received was amazing, without them Ethan would most probably lost his sight in one eye and lived majority of his childhood disfigured, but instead he has grown up into a gorgeous young man, I am so proud of him for wanting to raise money to say thank you for everything GOSH did for him, so please support us on this challenge as every penny helps to heal and cure all those poorly children.
