Story

Thanks for your support with my London Marathon JustGiving challenge!
My page donations will be sent direct to the charity in a fast and secure way. Its efficient, saves time and cuts costs for the charity. Let's do this!

Our son Henry was finally diagnosed with Dravets Syndrome a rare form of epilepsy 3 years ago after 12 years of not knowing the cause of his severe, uncontrolled seizures and learning difficulties. Having heard about St Elizabeths School on a TV documentary my husband and I decided to follow up with a visit to the centre. It was nothing like any school we had seen before and the expertise of the staff blew us away. We then spent 2 years battling with our LEA to get Henry a place. From the moment he started we have never looked back. Coupled with strong links to leading epilepsy neurologist at GOSH and the exceptional care offered by staff in school and on the unit, Henry not only settled well but is flourishing. Henry’s health has had some highs and lows but as a family we have been consistently supported by the most incredible team of staff. Henry has been at St Elizabeths for nearly 4 years now and I would like to give something back to this special place in the hope that it will help lots of the residents already there as well as those yet to embark on their first experience of the centre....

Based across 68 acres of beautiful countryside, St Elizabeth's is the only national charity supporting children and adults of all ages with epilepsy and other complex medical conditions, the severity of which impacts upon their health, social, behaviour, learning and emotional development. We offer access to high-quality, individualised care, education and leisure opportunities, helping everyone to live their lives to the fullest.

Over the past 115 years, St Elizabeth's has grown and developed to comprise a non-maintained special School for both boarders and day students, a specialist Further Education College, domiciliary care for College learners, residential care with nursing for 102 adults across 12 purpose built bungalows, a comprehensive Day Opportunities programme for residents and day clients and 24 hour health provision provided by specialist nurses and therapists.

Please dig deep and find something in your pockets for this amazing charity without whom so many families would be lost.
