Story
The Poverty Hurts Appeal launched in October 2021 by County Durham Community Foundation is about bringing businesses and communities together to fight excess winter deaths, reduce poverty-related misery, and help the one-in-three local children living in poverty. Businesses and individuals who donate could also unlock match funding.
Raffle tickets are £5 each or £20 per strip, and the grand raffle will be drawn at DBG Annual General Meeting at Ramside Hall on 14th December 2021.
Please do not remain anonymous, as we need to assign your raffle ticket/s to each donation, and don't want you to miss out on the chance of winning fabulous prizes, kindly donated by our member businesses.
Your donation to the Poverty Hurts Appeal will support children without winter coats or shoes, families living in fuel poverty; and the elderly who feel forgotten and frightened. Donations will support the area where they are given - County Durham or Tees Valley, and support the work of the Foundation. Your donation can help people like: Fred* a 97-year-old veteran who thought he would never see his family again because of the pandemic. A local project funded by the Foundation gave Fred a tablet and showed him how to use it. Now he sees his family every day. Kerry* raising her large family alone after the sudden death of her husband. Foundation funding supported Kerry with underwear, socks and leggings to take away some of the expense of setting children up for the new school term.
