In memory of my wonderful mom di or as I called her dippy Dora

Mom was sadly diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2015 , it had already spread to the bone when she was diagnosed and due to a traumatic brain injury she sustained in an accident in 2014 where mom was in a coma for 2 months and given a very small percentage of survival (but she did against all odds)there was very little treatment other than palliative treatment available to mom.

Mom has some 16 months living a great quality of life before she suffered any side effects of the cancer.

In January 2017 she began to suffer bone pain the nurses from the hospice were golden they were there supporting mom and us as a family,organising gp visits commencing pain relief and organising equipment for mom nothing was to much trouble for them .

Sadly moms cancer soon spread to the liver and spend weeks in hospital . Mom was desperate to get home and the palliative care team put everything in place to make that happen. 

With the support of the palliative nurses from the hospice and other health professionals mom spent her final 2 weeks comfortable at home before she passed away just what she wanted.

In moms memory I would like to organise some events over the next few years to raise more funds for the hospice ........ so that other patients and their families can continue to receive help and support at a very difficult time just like we did as it was invaluable , and keep my mom’s memory alive x

Very kindly the people who attended moms funeral donated money for the seven hospice raising £350 that's the starting point I would love to raise as much as possible in moms memory she was our world such a character who brought a smile to every one she meet.she was a supported of the hospice for as long as I can remember now I know why ........ a wounderful service we were lucky to recive and can't thank them enough.

So wish us luck ...... This is for the best ...... my momma.

Update the Severn hospice is so special to us so much so I now work for the hospice I’m very lucky to have such a wonderful job passing on my knowledge to patients and their families .
