Story
On Sept 27th I am abseiling the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in support of the Stroke Association. Some may say this is crazy / ridiculous / mental - and to a point I agree!!!
However, this year 150,000 people have a stroke. 10,000 of these people will be under 30 years old. 53,000 of these people will die.
As a physiotherapist working with people after their stroke, I have seen the dramatic effect a stroke can have on people's lives, turning worlds upside down in an instant. Through my job, I hope I improve the lives of some of these people. But I am one person and can only do so much - you are many people.
I will do the abseil on behalf of all of you, and on behalf of all of the people who have had a stroke and dream of being able to walk/speak/write, let alone abseil. All I ask is that you please donate to this cause.
The Stroke Association is a nationwide charity that does amazing work to support people affected by stroke. Whether it be providing crucial information, specialised equipment, advice via a telephone helpline or research facilities - the Stroke Association is there.
As with everything, it all costs money. I appreciate we are always being asked for money in life, but if you can contribute any amount, however small, it will certainly be put to good use and help to improve the lives of people after a stroke in future. Thank you :)
