Story
Carer Support South Lakes is an independent, local charity and network partner of Carers Trust. We provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland. There are thousands of Carers in South Lakeland. Many juggle work, school, or other commitments along with their caring role, and most don't think of themselves as Carers, nor do they realise the range of services available to help them, such as access to information, emotional support, advocacy, financial support and opportunities to take a break. Taking on a caring role can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, depression and can result in ill health. The Great North Run is an annual event that Carer Support South Lakes participates in where five volunteers raise money for unpaid Carers as well as achieving personal goals. The money raised go towards 1-1 support, sitting service, wellbeing and support groups. Your generosity is very gratefully appreciated, thank you.
I am extremely passionate about this amazing charity and it broke my heart to know and see children from 5 years old were caring for their families. If I can help by giving them a chance to be a child, have some quality time with their loved ones without having to do the tasks we all take for granted as an adult or simply giving them some time for themselves. It could happen to anyone of us whether it is our children or whether we are caring for our loved ones and this charity helps and supports those in need and these are all the reasons that is driving me from not having run before to completing The Great North Run.
Thank you so much for helping and supporting.
