I am taking part in the Manchester Marathon next year in memory of my dear friend Joy. She was such an inspiration to me. Joy fought for 5yrs against cancer being positive and didnt let it get the better of her until the very end. She had been a dedicated teacher and worked passionately for all the children she taught. I planted an oak tree at school in view of the classroom she taught in. Mary Stevens Hospice were so good to her both at the Day Centre and when she spent some time in there, they have recently had to cut down on staff so everything you donate will be appreciated. As a visitor you were also made to feel special nothing was too much trouble. One time when I visited it was a lovely sunny day and we sat in the beautiful gardens, I have donated a plant to go in the gardens as that was one pastime she enjoyed. Joy was everything you could wish for in a true friend,she showed great strength, loyalty, courage and warmth, and I miss her.
