We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

On 4 October  I am attempting to run my first marathon and raise funds for Cancer Research UK in memory of my dear mum who died last August after a long, brave and dignified battle against ovarian cancer.

Opting for a rural rather than a city setting, I have signed up for the inaugural Hundon trail marathon in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.  This marathon was due to take place on 26 April but has been postponed until October due to coronavirus.

In supporting Cancer Research my hope is that scientific developments will one day prevent other families suffering from the same painful demise and loss of a loved one because of this horrible disease.  Spending the last five days and nights of my mum’s life by her side in the hospice was a particularly brutal and raw experience.  My mum leaves a huge hole in many people’s hearts.  She would have been so proud to see me run my first marathon.

I am incredibly grateful for any contribution that you are able to make.

Thank you, Alison xxx
