Story
I'm taking part in The Big Ride for Palestine - an annual charity bike ride, that uses cycling as a mechanism to inform people and show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
I will be raising funds for:
1. The Gaza Sunbirds: This year The Big Ride is teaming up with the Amos Trust to support an incredible cause - to send a cycling team from Gaza to the Paralympics in France in 2024. In 2018, Alaa al-Dali was an Olympic hopeful cyclist when his leg was shot to pieces by an Israeli sniper .Over 130 Gazans lost limbs in the same way in 2018 alone. Despite losing his leg and nearly dying, Alaa got back on his bike and established an amputee cycling team called the Gaza Sunbirds. We are cycling to help the Sunbirds achieve their dream of taking part in the 2024 Paralympics in France.
2. HIRN (Hebron International Resources Network), another Amos Trust partner. HIRN delivers grassroots humanitarian and development projects to support Palestinian people living in areas where the Israeli Occupation and settlement projects are most visible and aggressive.
