Hellooo!
In 3 weeks time (October 5th to be exact) I’m starting my 4 week paediatric medicine placement block, and in an effort to raise money and awareness for a charity called Safe Passage, I’m going to be running my daily commute to and from the Royal Hospital for Sick Children instead of taking the bus or driving for the full 4 weeks.
I’ll be donating the money I’d usually spend on my commute, but I’d love to raise as much as possible, and would be so grateful if you’d consider donating too! Having to run every day is something I’d only ever imagined myself doing in an apocalyptic scenario, especially as we approach Scotland’s winter, so it’ll be a challenge for sure! The thought of this much cardio is giving me the fear already, but being able to raise my target of £300 for Safe Passage would make every muscle ache I’m destined for worth it, so please please donate if you can!
Every year thousands of unaccompanied child refugees arrive in Europe in search of safety, often finding themselves alone in dangerous situations and sleeping rough on city streets, unaware of their legal right to travel safely through Europe. Safe Passage is a charity which works to provide unaccompanied child refugees with safe and legal routes to sanctuary across Europe, and reunite them with their families.
Over the past year, the UK governments inadequate response to the global refugee crisis has become increasingly relevant, and my growing frustration with their “Hostile Environment" has motivated me to do what I can to help.
If you’d like to find out more about Safe Passage’s incredible mission, you can head to their facebook page or website!
Even if you can’t donate right now, it would be amazing if you could support Safe Passage by sharing this post and giving the charity a follow on social media to raise awareness of the amazing work that they do to help child refugees.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Feel free to message me if you’ve got questions or, more importantly any pro tips for running lol xx
