Despite being very lazy (bar sometimes doing a bit of yoga...), having a bit of extra COVID-19 weight, and having never climbed a mountain, I decided to climb Ben Nevis in July for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity!
Clatterbridge is an amazing hospital, just about to relocate to the centre of Liverpool, that treats cancer patients and carries out vital research. They looked after my own Grandad when he was poorly and the whole family is grateful to them for allowing our Grandad to come home and spend more time with us :) As you can imagine, with the need to shield their patients, donations are needed during the pandemic more than ever.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the U.K. and (so I’m told) there’ll be amazing views when I get there, despite the 7-9 hours it’ll take to climb up and down. I will luckily have my partner in crime and seasoned mountain climber, Glen, with me and the promise of as many breaks as I need on the way up.
My preparation starts now, I bought my very first pair of walking shoes and I’m cutting down on the cider... Any donations are welcome and I’m already looking forward to that first pint at the bottom of the mountain!
