Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So here it is, my next challenge - a relay swim of Loch Ness! 22.5 miles long, 230m (755ft) deep and the largest loch in Scotland by volume. Much colder than the English Channel (only around 10 degrees C even in the summer) and of course I'll still be swimming WITHOUT a wetsuit! In order to train for this swim I have been swimming in Loch Ness all winter (even in the snow), so hopefully it won't feel too cold! On the day I'll be sharing the swimming with 4 other swimmers, swimming for one hour at a time, in rotation, until we get to the other end.
I am raising money for Aspire, a charity that offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work places and in leisure time. I started to support this charity after my brother Thomas had to have emergency surgery on his spine several years ago and have completed other swimming challenges for them in the past, including several English Channel Relays and my Solo Channel Swim in 2012. More information on the work of Aspire can be found online at www.aspire.org.uk.
