Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For the biggest running challenge of my life so far, I have decided to fundraise for the National Eczema Society. Having suffered with severe eczema my whole life and still needing to use numerous steroid creams moistures and medication to manage my condition, it only felt natural to raise funds for this cause.
Eczema is an autoimmune disease where the skin does not produce natural oils which form a barrier and protection. This means germs, dirt, dust and external water can get into the layers of skin causing irritation, infection, scaring, swelling and drying of the skin.
However to this day there is no cure and more research is needed to find out the exact causes. This is where the National Eczema Society come in. Not only are they dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with eczema, they also raise awareness of the condition, campaign for better medical care and support research into new eczema treatments.
My eczema isn’t going away any time soon. However running and raising money for this great cause will hopefully get us one step closer to finding less complex treatments and help this amazing charity support people of all ages with this debilitating and life changing condition.
