Story
As mums of autistic children, we experience every day the joy and wonder that our children bring to our lives but we also see the challenges from a society that still doesn't really celebrate difference. Rather, more often than not, our children are invisible or viewed negatively. Far too often society focusses on what autistic people cannot do instead of valuing their strengths and abilities. Conversations about autism are often about awareness, increasing understanding of what autism is and how it presents. It has long been time to move beyond awareness. Autistic people deserve acceptance and advocacy. They deserve to have the ability to live and function in society as everyone else does. They deserve to have their needs met and be able to have a happy, independent and fulfilling life. This is why we are raising money for the National Autistic Society who do amazing campaign work to increase acceptance and improve policies and practices for autistic people. We know that our children and all autistic people can be long-term contributors to society if only their potential and amazing skills are encouraged, and their needs are better understood. We will be taking part in the Jurassic Coast ultra challenge on the 13th-14th May where we will walk 100km in two days from Corfe Castle to Bridport. Please help us raise money for this cause and help create a society that embraces difference!Thank youFabrizia&Alice
