Story
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
Since first learning about Missing People two years ago, I have been nothing short of inspired by the commitment and dedication of the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to support those suffering the shock of a loved one going missing, as well as the children and adults who are missing, feeling lost with nowhere to go.
Someone goes missing every 90 seconds in the UK; a staggering 186,000 people are reported missing each year. Through my involvement with Missing People, I have heard heartbreaking stories from husbands and wives whose partners are missing, to parents whose children are missing. All of these people are supported by the incredible services team, who have continued to operate 24/7 throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, facing even more challenges than ever.
Running the London Marathon has been a long term ambition of mine. Running it virtually, alone, during a global pandemic? Not so much. Having deferred my spot for the marathon proper, I hadn't anticipated partaking in the 26.2 mile event on October 4th; so much so, that training has taken something of a back seat. With precisely 18 days to go before the event, Missing People asked me to join their virtual marathon team, and I just couldn't say no! I can't imagine I will be particularly speedy in my effort, and I definitely won't enjoy every second, but the cause is truly worth the challenge.
All of your kind generosity will go towards maintaining the incredible work Missing People do, enabling them to be a lifeline every time someone disappears.
Thank you.
