Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I am running both the London Marathon (October 5th) and New York Marathon (November 6th). As a keen runner it is an exciting prospect to be able to take part in two of the largest road races in the world and events which are both part of the World Marathon Majors series. It is for this reason I wanted to use my entries to support and raise awareness of the work of Lincoln City Foundation.
Lincoln City Foundation’s vision is for happier, healthier, inspired communities across Lincolnshire. The Foundation strives to achieve this by inspiring, empowering, and helping individuals and communities to improve their physical, social, and mental wellbeing.
The Foundation delivers a range of programmes under the key areas of, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Community Cohesion, Education and Employability, and Sport and Physical Activity. This includes:
• Team Talk – a male mental health initiative
• Extra Time Hub – a programme designed to reduce isolation and increase physical activity in older adults
• Fighting Fit – a cancer care programme for those living with and beyond cancer
• English in the Community – community based English language classes for non-native speakers
• Place Based Social Action – a community development project supporting a local neighbourhood
• As well as a range of children’s and youth activities, and an extensive programme of education support from primary through to Foundation degree level.
I know a great deal about Lincoln City Foundation having had the pleasure of working for the charity for the past five years, however, many do not realise the breadth and impact of the work we do. I see the difference we at Lincoln City Foundation are making to peoples’ lives and the impact we are having on communities, and I hope I can help share this message widely through my marathon participation. As a charity we are also heavily reliant on fundraising and therefore any donations towards our work are greatly appreciated to support us to continue to reach and inspire lives.
