Story
As many of you will know, I recently lost my stepmum, Liz Lower, to cancer in August 2024. Liz was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in April 2024, meaning that after just 4 months of treatment, unfortunately the cancer won. The Macmillan nurses based at East Surrey Hospital were an incredible support to both Liz and my Dad, Andrew Lower. I know he could not sing their praises highly enough and they were fantastic with Liz, providing invaluable support and organising treatments such as acupuncture for her.
Having already completed sponsored walks for other family members who have faced similar challenges, it is only the right thing to do to once again push myself far beyond my actual walking capabilities in the name of someone else who I loved dearly. I will therefore be walking 26 miles of the South Coast on 7th June, starting in Brighton and finishing near Eastbourne. I am currently only 6 months postpartum from my 2nd son Kit and am probably the most unfit I have ever been so this will be a HUGE challenge but one I am excited for. I am determined to actually train for this one… any pennies you can spare for such an important cause would be so so appreciated.
In June 2025, I have challenged myself to take on the South Coast Mighty Hike to help raise money for people living with cancer.
I'd be so grateful if you could help me reach my £250 pledge, which can pay for Macmillan Nurse for one day. This could provide people living with cancer and their families essential medical, practical and emotional support.
There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.
Thank you!
