Story
There’s never a good time to be homeless but winter is the toughest time of all. Staying warm and dry can be a constant battle and rough sleeping in this weather can lead to tuberculosis, pneumonia, trenchfoot or worse. The nights are dark and long, which can be dangerous and isolating for people who are alone on the street.
St Mungo’s outreach teams go out late at night, 365 days a year, to find and help vulnerable people sleeping on the street and connect them to help. In the coming weeks, demand for St Mungo’s services is set to become urgent. Please donate to this Christmas campaign and help more people build a life away from the street this winter.
This year, LSE and LSESU embarked on a 3-year strategic partnership with St Mungo's, where a team of us from the University are involved in fundraising, research and volunteering. LSE wants to reduce homelessness in Westminster, the London Borough with the highest rate of homelessness, and empower staff and students to make change.
We're asking for your help this Christmas.
£25 - Could pay for someone to get a health check OR could provide clothing for a rough sleeper identified by an outreach worker.
£50 - Could provide a bed, warm meal and staff support for a person found on the street.
